Production and consumption of gypsum in Vietnam

In recent years, along with the growth of the cement industry, the consumption of gypsum for cement production in Vietnam is very large and has a relatively high average growth rate, about 7 %/year.

Supply of gypsum

Up to now, documents and many experts have confirmed that there is no gypsum mine in Vietnam, moreover the data of gypsum import in recent years can also prove that there is no gypsum mine in Vietnam. natural high.

The amount of gypsum imported to Vietnam

The above data and balance with the demand for gypsum of the cement industry in the period from 2010 - 2014 also show that the amount of gypsum imported to Vietnam is larger than the amount of gypsum needed for cement production needs. This also proves that in Vietnam there are no natural gypsum mines and no artificial gypsum production facilities to supply industries using gypsum.

Currently in Vietnam gypsum is imported from countries in the region such as Laos, Thailand and China. Depending on the quality, price as well as geographical location of each cement production facility, the facilities will use gypsum of Laos or Thailand or China. On that basis, each source of imported gypsum and the location of cement factories that have their own specific modes of transportation, however, imported gypsum from abroad at a few fixed locations in Vietnam. South is mainly through sea shipping for gypsum from Thailand and overland transportation for gypsum from Laos. From these fixed points, gypsum will be transported to cement factories by means of waterway, road or road transport.

The import of gypsum from countries in the region also faces many difficulties because gypsum is natural, so reserves are very limited.

Reserves of gypsum mines in Thailand

Reserves of gypsum mines in Laos

The reserve data of the mines under the license and the fact that up to now, how much this reserve is left is not determined with certainty. However, currently these countries are introducing many policies to limit the export of artificial gypsum such as licensing gypsum exports and not encouraging exports beyond the license or regularly raising export prices...

Meanwhile, the demand for cement consumption of Vietnam as well as other countries in the region is increasing in quantity. Therefore, gypsum used for cement production will face difficulties in the future when natural gypsum sources will be increasingly scarce.

Gypsum consumption Tiêu

With particularly important and indispensable properties of gypsum products for cement production as well as a number of other manufacturing industries such as production of gypsum ceiling panels, light industrial products... High has an important meaning in production initiative and product cost. Moreover, in the industries that have demand for gypsum, the cement industry has the largest demand for gypsum with the proportion of 4% gypsum/ton of cement. With this proportion, the amount of gypsum consumed in Vietnam every year is very large.

On the basis of cement consumption in the period 2004 - 2014, the quantity of gypsum consumed in Vietnam in the period 2004 - 2014 is as follows:

The amount of gypsum consumed in the period 2004 - 2014

The volume of cement consumed in the years 2012 - 2014 includes the amount of clinker exported, the amount of gypsum used for cement production above has not been included in the amount of exported clinker,

Thus, the consumption of gypsum for cement production in Vietnam is very large and has a relatively high average growth rate, according to the above data, the expected growth rate is 7%/year. The balance between imported gypsum data and annual use gypsum data shows that imported gypsum is mainly used for cement production. Therefore, the growth in the use of gypsum is associated with the growth of the cement industry in Vietnam.
